LETTER: Keep park open

I am writing to express my strong support for keeping Camas Prairie Park open.

This facility has provided immense value to our community, serving as a vital resource for recreation, inclusion and environmental well-being.

In my experience, I have worked with adults with developmental disabilities who found purpose and connection through volunteering at Camas Prairie Park. These individuals contributed meaningfully to operations, showcasing unique skills while learning teamwork, responsibility and community values.

Through these activities, I have helped guide them toward employment opportunities that transformed their lives, fostering independence, confidence and a sense of belonging.

Camas Prairie Park also serves as essential green space where people connect with nature, relax and enjoy outdoor activities. Such spaces are critical for promoting physical and mental well-being while preserving our area’s environmental health.

Losing this park would greatly diminish both the community’s quality of life and the ecological benefits it provides.

The park is far more than a recreational facility, it is a hub for community engagement, a sanctuary of natural beauty and a symbol of inclusivity.

Closing it would mean losing a space that empowers individuals with disabilities and strengthens community bonds.

I respectfully urge you to consider the profound, far-reaching benefits of keeping Camas Prairie Park open. It is truly a cornerstone of our community.
