LETTER: Free speech

The Daily Reader Poll is very telling about the population of this area.

Meta is ending its “fact checking” and about 65 percent of respondents oppose that move.

Sure, Facebook is a private company and can censor our First Amendment rights. However, it was done with our government urging the political direction of the fact checking.

People were kicked off the platform for expressing hesitation about the COVID vaccines, for mentioning ivermectin, for saying the virus might have come from a laboratory.

History shows us that the fact checkers were wrong, at least partially, on every count.

Yet our free speech was censored.

Around 65 percent of the residents hereabouts are OK with these fascist activities.

Use this paper as an example.

If they choose on their own to not print my letter, fine. That is their right.

If they choose not to print my letter at the government’s urging, that’s when we have a problem.

I realize my views may not reflect the fascistic views of the local population, but this paper still prints my letters from time to time. This is how free speech works.

Thanks, PDN.
