LETTER: Economic trauma

Even employing an army of Ph.D. economists, the Federal Reserve board and the government very badly misunderstand and mishandle the economy.

Sometimes, as shown in recent years, by being blind-sided by inflation.

As a political Independent, I am sympathetic to some, but not all, of the values of both conservatives and liberals.

I am writing to assure you that Trump absolutely will, not might, severely injure the national economy.

Think Great Depression, or at least Great Recession.

It is not that all his beliefs and actions are wrong — some do make sense — it is just the severity, abruptness and number of them that are so damaging.

The folks in the political top rung, liberal and conservative alike, have huge resources of power, control and money, so they can create, survive and, not infrequently, profit from the shocks and change to our culture and the economy that they create unintentionally, or purposefully, while pursuing their goals.

But the rest of us do not have these same resources and so we cannot adequately adjust to the economic trauma that is being shot from the government’s gins every day.
