LETTER: Done with meat

I was a regular meat eater up until I listened to the Coast to Coast AM radio show, “Meat Industry Expose with Gail Eisnitz’”

She explained in detail the painful horrific life and death food source animals, such as cows, pigs and chickens, have at industrial food source animal farms and slaughter houses.

It was always in the back of my mind what happened to an animal in order for me to buy neat and clean pieces of it at the store in plastic packaging, totally divorcing me from the reality.

But I had no idea how incredibly bad the mass torture is for food source animals.

Very sad, depressing, frustrating.

For example, unwanted baby male chicks are thrown alive into macerators which grind the chicks to pieces, or the male chicks are gathered up and put into one big plastic bag to slowly suffocate to death.

There are many more just as bad or worse animal cruelties going on. Listen to the radio show.

If the only way to eat meat was to kill the animal yourself, would you still be a meat eater?

If you don’t kill it, you have not earned the right to eat it.

I still eat verified humane truly free-range organic eggs and organic dairy.
