Some comments on a “State permit needed to buy guns under new law” (PDN, June 3.)
The article states Gov. Bob Ferguson signed House Bill 1163, “a controversial policy.”
Controversial?
This law requires the state’s permission to exercise an inalienable right enumerated in the Constitution.
If I’m not mistaken, all elected officials took an oath to uphold the Constitution.
Ferguson says gun violence breaks apart families and kills too many children, and this law puts commonsense reforms into place.
HB 1163 requires a background check to get a background check required when filling out Form 4473 to buy a firearm. It’s supposed to strengthen the state’s effort to limit gun violence.
“Gun violence” is an Orwellian term dreamed up by the radical Left gun prohibitionists to play on emotions and instill fear into the uninformed and ignorant.
Surely every criminal psychopath will procure this absurd permit to acquire a gun.
Meanwhile, it puts an enormous burden on all lawful and responsible citizens who want to protect themselves.
Liz Berry says this law has been a decade in the making and it’s transformative for our state, but they have more to do. She’s been trying for decades to disarm law-abiding Washington gun owners.
The article states that a dozen states have permit-to-purchase laws and courts have upheld them. They’re all blue states with activist, liberal judges ruling.
Gun control is practicing good marksmanship with safe and responsible gun handling. That’s commonsense reform.
