LETTER: Celebrating Trump’s success

With the streets of Sequim strangely quiet this past weekend, I panicked. Did I miss the latest “No Kings” rally?

Then I realized everyone must be home celebrating the best two weeks of President Trump’s reign.

Let’s review the facts:

Illegal border crossing plunges to levels not seen in decades. Iran’s nuclear program obliterated. Ceasefire between Israel and Iran. Supreme Court severely curtails national injunction power of lower courts. Supreme Court affirms elementary students cannot be forced to read LBGTQ books.

Inflation hits lowest level in four years, despite tariff chaos.

U.S. gas prices hit four-year low, except in Washington state, of course. The average gas price per gallon in Washington is $1.21 higher than the national average as of June 20, according to AAA. Thanks, Democrats.

Stock market is at all-time highs. Syria-Israel peace treaty is in the works. Trade deal with China. NATO defense spending target increased to 5 percent. Big beautiful bill passed by Congress.

It is enough to make any patriot shout “Hurrah!” as we celebrate Independence Day.

If none of these achievements make you smile, you may want to visit your optometrist.

Trump Derangement Syndrome can be cured, but you have to open your eyes first.
