While ancient Greek women used to use crocodile fat to ward off wrinkles – these days we can just head to our local supermarket for some snappy (excuse the pun) beauty fixes.
Oysters
Best known for their legendary benefits in the bedroom, oysters may also be able to help you look great too. Oysters contain a range of minerals that are important for healthy skin and nails; they also contain antioxidants – and we can’t get enough of those!
Tofu
Tofu and other soy-foods, including soy milk, have been scientifically proven to help prevent wrinkles. Rich in isoflavones, soy products help to prevent collagen breakdown and keep skin looking baby smooth and wrinkle-free. Tofu burgers don’t look so bad after all!
Milk
While we all know the benefits that drinking milk can offer us, such as giving us strong and healthy teeth and bones, not many of us have thought about what it does for our skin.
Lactic acid, found in milk, is a natural skin softener, and although it may not be the cheapest way to achieve baby-soft skin – many women swear by bathing in it!
Pumpkin Seeds
Raw pumpkin seeds are not just a good keep-at-your-desk snack to keep hunger at bay, they are loaded with beautifying vitamins, minerals and you’ve guessed it – antioxidants. Pumpkin seeds are also known to reduce your risk of cancer.
Parsley
This inconspicuous herb actually packs three times the vitamin C of oranges into its flavour-boosting stems! And if that’s not enough for you to stop pushing your parsley to the side of your plate, it also has twice as much iron as spinach and is great for aiding digestion.
Dark Chocolate
Women rejoice! If you need to justify your chocolate-loving habits, here’s a good excuse. Dark chocolate is a great source of antioxidants and can also be a mood-elevator, so you can look AND feel great.
Tip: To avoid post-chocolate guilt, choose chocolate with 80 per cent cocoa solids or more to minimise your sugar intake.
