As if it’s not already cool enough that we have music at our fingertips in the modern world, a new app produces one-of-a-kind music tracks based on the rhythm of the user’s heartbeat.
It’s seriously awesome. The brains behind Metamucil and Heart Research Australia have created a free iPhone and Android app, Metamucil Listen to Your Heart, which detects the user’s heart rate and generates custom music. As a bonus, the user can choose the genre for their mix.
The app picks up the user’s heartbeat by asking them to simply press their finger against the device’s camera for a minute. The software then detects tiny changes in the finger’s colour as blood flows, determining the heart rate.
But the app isn’t all about playing personalised tunes; it also tests the users knowledge of cholesterol by asking a series of true or false questions. In an effort to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining healthy cholesterol levels, the results of the quiz can be shared on the user’s Facebook page.
The Metamucil Listen to Your Heart App is available as a free download on iTunes or Google Play.
