Are you ready to wake up feeling rested, rejuvenated and well, like you’ve just had the best beauty sleep of your life? Um, duh!
Turns out ‘beauty sleep’ really is a thing and not just something we were told as kids to get us to bed earlier. Those crucial Zs can make a world of difference in how we wake up feeling (and looking) the next morning. But, being the beauty devotees we are, there’s no chance that we’re leaving getting the best beauty sleep up to chance, no no. We’re ready to take a deeper look into the steps to achieving the best beauty sleep possible.
So get cosy, unwind and prepare to be taken on a slumber-inspiring journey to find the steps for the ultimate beauty sleep.
Beauty Sleep Evening Routine
Aromatherapy Candle
Lighting a candle is a meditative practice. There’s something so innately unwinding about watching the flame flicker. But if you choose your scent wisely, you can double the unwinding benefits. Indulging in aromatherapy is the perfect way to start your journey to sound beauty sleep. Scents such as honeysuckle have been known to increase feelings of tranquillity.
Magnesium Salt Bath

So, your candle is lit, and the bath is running. Try adding magnesium bath salts like the Epzen Relax Magnesium Bath Crystals ($13 at Woolworths) to take your soak to the next level. Muscle-relaxing magnesium can help you to get a better-quality sleep.
Sleep-Encouraging Supplements

While you’re soaking in your cosy bath, why not be sipping on a sweet treat that’s also going to get you set for a restful slumber? Remember the benefits of magnesium we literally just told you about? Well, adding the Naked Harvest Moon Mylk ($39 at The Iconic) into your evening routine will help you to drift off to sleep quicker and have a more restful sleep (which basically means you’re going to wake up feeling a hundred times better, trust us).
Nourishing Skin Care

Now that you’re out of your bath, it’s time to massage in your skin care to work while you sleep. Because putting in the extra effort in the evening will mean you see some serious results come morning.
If you’re ready to wake up looking as good as you feel, it’s time to add the new Dermal Therapy Overnight Face Repair Cream ($21.99 at Chemist Warehouse) to your evening routine. It’s formulated with a line-up of over 30 powerhouse ingredients, including hydrating hyaluronic acid, elasticity-boosting peptides and collagen, barrier-strengthening ceramides, moisturising urea and restorative antioxidants. With ingredients like these, there’s no wonder you’ll wake up with skin looking radiant and rejuvenated – it’s refining beauty sleep. Plus, the rich-yet-lightweight cream also offers a soothing scent of Japanese honeysuckle.
Silk Pillowcases

Is there anything more luxe than a silk pillowcase? We think not! And with a stunning range of colours and stripes, Hommey Silk Pillowcases ($99 at Hommey) are clearly the place to rest your head.
Add in the glorious skin and strand-saving benefits, and you’re in for a complete winner of a rest (and TBH, a beautiful wake-up).
Pillow Spray

What goes hand in hand with your seriously luxe new pillowcases? A sleep-inducing spray. The botanical-infused spritz from Kit: ($45 at Kit:) has been specifically designed to calm your senses and put your mind at ease. Basically the perfect bedtime wind down.
Breathwork
If you’re truly committed to your sleep journey, and hey, creating a relaxing nighttime ritual, then try to incorporate a little breathwork before bed. The four-seven-eight breathing technique is as easy as inhaling for four seconds, holding for seven, then releasing for eight. It might take some getting used to, but once you have the hang of it, it can really help to slow down your heart rate, creating a more relaxing atmosphere, helping you fall asleep easier, and wake up feeling more refreshed.
Now, all that’s left to do is tuck yourself in and effortlessly drift off to the best sleep you’ve ever had. And thank us when you wake up looking unbelievably refreshed and rejuvenated in the morning. Sweet dreams.

Do you have any beauty sleep suggestions?
Magnesium tablets and/or spray really helps me!
Breathing exercises help to relax
I usually sleep very well, but must admit that on the odd occasion I lie awake for hours.
I have a lavender spray that I spray on my pillow
I do this too – it has become a nice part of my bedtime ritual
Some great good-sleep reminders! Having the window open and a cross-breeze is always healthy.
My husband’s snorning wakes me occasionally. :/
know the feeling!!
I didn’t know that honeysuckle was relaxing, I love that scent.
Magnesium spray really helps me get a good night’s sleep.
I must say I have never thought to use magnesium spray
Silk Pillow Cases don’t work for me !

Silk pillowcases are a game changer for my hair. I have used pillow mist on and off and don’t get much out of it, but there is a melatonin balm from Kit that was great (although I read the original didn’t even contain melatonin and is now called Good Night Balm or something).
Sometimes, I like to burn incense & this helps me to fall asleep. I set it on a tray to eliminate the risk of fire.
I also consciously slow my breathing, but can never remember how many seconds is recommended. Note to self: inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8.
So many expensive hot chocolates now to help you sleep
This sounds like something I would really enjoy. Hot Chocolate.
i would not sleep with a candle on, but pillow mists are nice
i sleep very poorly, sometimes waking hourly, the hot flushes just keep waking me up
I really enjoy applying night cream before bed time.

a warm water bath and a moisturizing mask
Pillow Spray sounds nice to smell when you put your head down.
I find my mind overtakes breath work
Great tips! I never realized how much my bedtime routine could impact my skin until I started being consistent with it. I’ve even started tracking my habits through DoctiPlus, and it’s made such a difference in both my sleep quality and overall glow. Love how this article breaks it all down so simply!
Sleeping well is just important really and not doing so can impact so much of ones life
I use a pillow mist made with essential oils, it is very calming with the lavender scent.
