Whether you love her or not, we can all unite over our shared love of a redhead moment. With the media digging up every tiny detail of Meghan Markle’s past over the last seven years, it seems they missed the only one we actually care about: her stint as a redhead in 2012.
Ok, perhaps we’re being a tad dramatic. Her stint with auburn-hued hair, is that better?
Considering she’s married to arguably the most recognised ginger in the world, it came as no surprise to discover that Meghan has long been fond of this hair colour. It did surprise us, however, to discover that Meghan had once repped this shade herself.
Because while yes, celebrities chop, change and transform their hairstyle every five minutes, when it comes to going red, it’s rare we see anyone other than a blonde give it a go.
Why is it typically blondes who dye their hair red?
As far as natural hair colours go, red is one of the lightest shades. This means any colours darker than blonde won’t give off that vibrant Jessica Chastain-esque effect.
However, as seen by Meghan’s wash of auburn, it’s not an entirely pointless process. You’ll still see results, they will just appear slightly more muted.
What’s our verdict on Meghan’s auburn hair?
While we love the Duchess of Sussex when she’s got her glossy brunette mane out on show, we do live for any sort of hair colour change-up. In fact, it’s almost impossible to imagine any hair colour that Meghan wouldn’t pull off. Must be nice.
11 years on, could Meghan bring back this look as a trend? Absolutely. There’s truly no limit to what Meghan can influence.
After all, she did inspire a movement of people getting freckle tattoos just to look a little bit more like her.

I’ve tried auburn/red hair colours and although the colours are nice, I don’t feel comfortable with such vibrant hair.

Not interested in trends, red hair can look great but of course it depends on the shade and skin tone etc
Not really interested in Meghan Markle she has caused enough trouble, then the Red Hair that her Children have may not come from Harry after all.
I wouldn’t say it’s typically blondes who dye their hair red but I have a daughter with gorgeous very long natural blond, really blonde hair and she dyed it a coppery red colour. It looked amazing as it suited her pale skin but in the meantime I have forgotten what her natural hair looks like on her.
As far as Meghan goes, I think the auburn hair looks nice on her.
