Welcome to the first Expert Trial Team of 2015! It’s a pretty special one for the bh girls, because we’re praising the products that helped us to through the holiday sunshine and cheer, as well as kick-start the new year with a bit of a positive boost.
From thirst-quenching moisture masks to a can’t-live-without gradual tanner, these are the newbies we’re going to be using in summer and beyond.
bh’s Michelle loves Dermalogica Protection 50 Sport SPF50
With pigmentation being my biggest skincare concern, I am absolutely committed to using a sunscreen as part of my daily skin care routine. I like to use moisturisers that contain SPF as well as a dedicated sunscreen, and this one from Dermalogica is my current favourite for a few reasons. Firstly, it’s suitable for the face and body, and I adore a good multitasker (really, who doesn’t?). Secondly, its lightweight formula glides on and never feels greasy on my face, even when I’m layering it with other products. It also leaves my skin feeling quite soft and doesn’t “pill” on the skin’s surface like some sunscreens do. And lastly, it’s SPF50 and water resistant, which is perfect for summertime. I’m spending a lot of time at the beach and pool, and I like knowing that I’m wearing quality UV protection that also works to bind moisture to my skin.
bh’s sam loves Toni & Guy Limited Edition by Marchesa Heat Protection Spray
I use a straightener nearly every day, so I always have a heat protection product in my bathroom. No excuses. One of the things I love about this one is the spray nozzle – it’s so easy to use and doesn’t leak, so I can take it with me when I’m travelling. It smells great, and the spray itself is a really light mist that doesn’t weigh my hair down or dampen it too much before styling. I like to spray it on and then brush it through, because I find this spreads the product to cover every strand. Besides protecting my hair, I find this method also works to control my frizz a little bit, giving my tresses a smoother finish. Lastly, I love the trendy design of the limited edition bottle! Limited edition products are my guilty pleasure – I like owning something people may never be able to buy again!
bh’s Astrid loves Dirty Works Rose & Glow Moisture Mask
Summer dries out me out like nobody’s business, so I am always on the lookout for products that rehydrate my skin and leave me with a healthier, glowy complexion. This mask is incredibly smooth; not nearly as thick as I would normally opt for, but the soft, soothing rose scent just keeps reeling me in. The directions say to apply the mask once or twice a week, leaving it on for five minutes each time. I left it on for a few extra minutes, just to get the most out of my moisture hit (and because I’m sneaky). After only a couple of uses, I can already see the difference. My make-up stays on longer throughout the day because my skin isn’t flaky or dry, and the fine lines around my eyes and mouth even seem fuller thanks to the hyaluronic acid. This mask is already on my 2015 hit list, and for only 13 clams it’ll be a staple in my bathroom cupboard.
bh’s Katia loves Sunescape Hydrating Gradual Tan Extender
After spending Christmas in not-so-sunny New York, my skin was crying out for some colour. To avoid blinding people with my pastiness at the beach, I started applying this wonder tan in the days leading up to my return to Sydney – and it worked a treat! It’s perfect for building up a tan slowly (and subtly), and its blend of coconut, macadamia, argan and avocado oils moisturises skin and smells like summer. De-lish. Along with being a self-tanner, this product is a tan-extender, so I’ll be using it to prolong those spray tans I may or not get every second week. #guilty
