If it wasn’t clear before, Drew Barrymore just solidified herself as Hollywood’s most down-to-earth star. The goofy, fun-loving icon has just gone and box-dyed her hair at-home, proving once and for all that you can be budget-conscious and still look great on telly.
Okay okay, we know there’s a few sceptics out there. Did she really box dye her hair herself? And was it all really thanks to the nourishing, oil-infused Garnier Nutrisse? Look, as a long-time Garnier lover (and we know, ambassador) we can confidently say, Drew Barrymore totally uses this dye.
But how are we so sure? Well for one. Check out this video where she shows us applying the dye in her very own bathroom.
Okay, typing that out sounds kind of stalker-adjacent, but we promise, we’ve just watched a ton of BTS videos of Drew playing around with her makeup! Honestly, Drew being Drew is all the proof we need to go and add this (plus a few bottles of her latest skin care must-have) to our cart and click order!
Garnier Hair Colour
Look, Drew didn’t give us an in depth look when it came to the shade-matching decision making, but we’re sure she chatted to her hair stylist to get the low down on the best match for her hair goals.
Luckily for us, before covering our tresses in an untried tone, we can head on over to the Garnier site and check out their virtual shade matcher. Yep, no more ‘slightly off, need to run to the store for another box’ dye jobs again!
Drew Barrymore Hair Dye
As for Drew, her tried and tested shade was no other than the Garnier Nutrisse 7 Almond Crème Dark Blonde. The dye offers the perfect grey-coverage solution for when root touch-ups are just not on the cards.
You can shop the (seriously iconic) box (almost perpetually on sale) at Priceline (for $8.49 usually $16.99) or Chemist Warehouse ($12.99 usually $16.99).
And you know it’s your shade when Garnier literally realise a box with your face on it. Look, we can’t offer you your very own face on the box, but we can suggest that any dye that’s good enough for Drew Barrymore’s tresses is one we trust on our own.

Do you dye your hair at-home? Have you used any Drew Barrymore-approved Garnier products before?
Lucky for me I have not coloured my hair at all. I do have high lights every now and then. May once or twice a year just to lift the colour a bit.
Her hair looks great
Love Drew and love this ad
Love the Box dyes
I have uses supermarket dyes for years and never had a problem at all -so easy
Same, but hairdressers like to poo poo them nonetheless due to “not being professional”. Mind you I’ve only used brunette shades, never used them to go lighter.
Well done Drew
Never use these.
I find home hair dyes to work very well. The difficulty comes in finding the right colour. When I do find a colour I like, it gets discontinued. 🙁
That’s such a good colour on Drew
I love colouring my hair at home. Far less stress than at the hairdressers!
I am always so afraid of trying this at home. What if I make a hash of it?
I love how down to earth Drew is
It looks great too
I don’t colour my hair at home. I quite enjoy the whole salon experience.
I guess if you’re on the box, you’d better use the product, lol
I dont dye my hair yet, but i know ill have to soon. Gosh i love Drew Barrymore shes my favourite
I’m happy with my hair colour as it is these days
Good on her, I don’t go to professionals to get anything done to my hair.
That colour looks beautiful.
Funny to see Drew Barrymore this morning while at a cafe having coffee. She has her own show?? Never knew this??
Drew is so lovely. If you are going to be in the Ads you really need to use the products.
I used to dye at home, but now I go to a salon.
I use the right hair colour then! Good on Drew!
She is gorgeous
Garnier is fast becoming the number 1 hair care economical product brand. I like their green range
I had used Garnier with great results, but for me the long lasting had been Revlon Dark ash blonde and I left it for 60 minutes for better results

I have tried Garnier brand before. I am happy with the results.
