Let’s face it, breaking and entering aside, our obsession with our beloved celebrities knows no limits. From their go-to coffee order to their star sign, and the skin care they use, we want (nay, we need) to be across it all.
So when it comes to something as personal as a signature scent, our curiosity becomes all-consuming.
For a hint at exactly what you’d inhale if you gave one of these mega stars a hug, here are the actual perfumes they’ve confessed to spritzing on themselves.

Christina Ricci: Byredo Gypsy Water
“[Byredo Gypsy Water] ($309.99 from Chemist Warehouse) is just one of my favourites, if not my favourite perfume, and I use it all the time. I’ve been wearing it for seven or eight years,” Christina told Strategist. “I don’t know how to really describe it. I would hesitate to call it a heavy scent, and I would hesitate to call it a light scent. I’m sure it has floral notes in it, and I think it has musky notes in it, but I’m not really sure, which is why I love it so much.”

Scarlett Johansson: Narciso Rodriguez For Her and Hermes Terre d’Hermès
When you’re an A-lister, why wouldn’t you have a fragrance wardrobe? Johansson certainly agrees. “I love the Narcisco Rodriguez [For Her] ($89.99 from Chemist Warehouse) one; it smells so good,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “There’s also a Hermès one called Terre d’Hermès ($89.99 from Chemist Warehouse) that I love. I kind of mix it up.”

Kate Moss: Clarins Eau Dynamisante
“My mum used to wear it, it’s just a go-to smell,” Kate told Vogue as she pulled the Clarins Eau Dynamisante ($82 from MYER) out of her handbag. This iconic red bottle is a favourite amongst arguably the two chicest groups of people: French women and supermodels. Formulated without the regular alcohols you’d find in a fragrance, this skin care and perfume hybrid has been enriched with essential oils that allow it to double as a skin toner and hydrating mist.

Naomi Campbell: Dior Diorissimo
You’d be forgiven for assuming Naomi Campbell’s signature scent comes from her own perfume line, Naomi by Naomi Campbell. However, during an interview at the Fragrance Foundation Awards, the supermodel said “I wear a blend of many of my old favourites. But one of my all time favourite fragrances is Diorissimo [by Dior] ($170 from MYER).” In particular its staying power: “I love florals, florals that linger and that’s what lily of the valley does, it lingers all night,” she said.

Susan Sarandon: Santa Maria Novella Eva
“I don’t have a signature scent as such, but I prefer masculine scents like sandalwood,” Susan shared to Harpers Bazaar UK. Despite not necessarily being loyal to one fragrance, Susan does admit that, “Eva from the Italian perfumer Santa Maria Novella ($185 from Mondopiero) is a favourite.”

Helen Mirren: Hermès Un Jardin En Mediterranee
Ever wondered what a dame smells like? Besides class, talent and beauty, of course. Well, in the case of the incomparable Dame Helen Mirren, it’s sparkling citrus with a heady green twist. She shared the identity of her favourite fragrance with Glamour, naming this beautifully bright hybrid of bergamot, lemon, mandarin orange and fig leaf as her zesty signature scent — Hermès Un Jardin En Mediterranee ($250 from David Jones).

Meghan Markle: Jo Malone Wild Bluebell
Sadly for us, Meghan Markle’s lifestyle blog TIG is no longer active. But that doesn’t mean we can’t hang on to all the past beauty recommendations that were once written on the site. One of those includes Meghan’s daily signature scent — the floral favourite from Jo Malone — Wild Bluebell ($182 from MYER). The fragrance notes include clove, bluebell, lily of the valley, jasmine and musk.

Drew Barrymore: Patchouli Perfume Oil
According to Drew’s Little Yellow Book, the actress and host of The Drew Barrymore Show is a big lover of using fragrance to reset the senses. “We are sitting with ourselves so much more than ever, so it’s vital to give ourselves love. One easy way to do that is by making sure we are smelling fresh — a simple, special treat for our senses,” she shared. “Scents are extremely powerful at determining our moods.” She likes to apply a drop of Patchouli oil to her wrists and neck for a bit of aromatherapy throughout the day. Her favourite — Triloka Patchouli Perfume Oil — is not available down under, but an inexpensive roll-on alternative such as Vrindavan Certified Organic Perfume Oil Patchouli Bliss ($15.95 from Biome) should do the trick.

Ashley Graham: Chloé Eau de Parfum
A classic crowd favourite, Chloe’s self-titled signature perfume ($79.99 from Chemist Warehouse) is a top pick for anyone who favours a light, romantic and feminine scent. Among fans of the popular fragrance is Ashley Graham, who revealed to E! Online that this is the perfume she “can’t live without”.

Reese Witherspoon: Aerin Amber Musk
Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar, Reece crowned Aerin’s Amber Musk ($225 from MYER) as her number one fragrance, revealing she doesn’t go anywhere without a spritz. The spicy and floral perfume is described by Aerin as a warm, inviting scent you want to wrap yourself in, like a soft cosy blanket on a cold snowy night.

What’s your signature scent? Have you ever tried any of the ones mentioned?
I have never tried any of these.
Some fragrances here that I haven’t seen before.
I know what you mean. So many to choose from and more and more coming onto the market
Can’t go past a Dior but the Clarins one sounds interesting without the alcohols
Just by looking at Helen Mirren, you can tell she smells expensive
I have a few fragrances that I love but I don’t know if I have a signature scent
I really like the sound of Christina Ricci: Byredo Gypsy Water but at $309.99 I think I might have to give it a miss?
Since reading this the first time, I’ve been looking for Aerin’s Amber Musk, and haven’t been able to find it.
I’ve been really into hair mists at the moment.
It just shows you need to try and wear for a while before you buy as so many different scents
I’m not big on perfumes, however I like the sound of some of the mentioned ones.
I haven’t tried any of these!
I would love to try samples.
I have never sniffed any of these numbers before, for me I would pick Drews favourite the Patchouli Triloka Perfume oil.
Byredo Gypsy Water is rather a different name for perfume?
Sounds intriguing
Sundae have some new body sprays too which look nice
I have tried Clarins Eau Dynamisante years ago. It is beautiful. Not heavy scented.
I am still using a perfume my hubby bought for me in Tahiti. Monoi scent. Perfect for Qld during the day.
At night I spray Nina Ricci.
I’ve used Chloe before.
