Hairstyles, Haircuts & HOTD

Hi ladies, I don’t think there is a thread set up as yet for hairstyles so thought I might start one where you can share comments on your hairstyle, post photos of your hairstyle/new haircut or photos of celebrities hairstyles which you love or loathe etc.

I’ve had the same hairstyle for the last 5/6 years (medium to long length, layered and with a side sweep fringe). I finally had the courage and gave my fringe the snip and now I have short bangs and have snipped the bottom so it’s more straight and blunt. I’m still getting used to it.

I got my inspiration from Jennifer Lopez and Taylor Swift as pictured.

I have had for a long time a Bob haircut)) But during quarantine, all salons were closed and my hair has grown. I thought it is not so bad idea to change my style because during this time my hair was lower than my shoulder blades. I started to check what medium length hairstyles I can do and found https://glaminati.com/medium-length-hairstyles-long-thick-hair/ ideas there. Now I’m getting used to my new style and beautifully styled hair.

Stylists can save hours on coloring with the new comb set https://vellen-hair.com/collections/combs/products/premium-rat-tail-comb-set-3-sizes-with-special-design-perfect-for-babylights-balayage-and-highlights-1 . Combs of different sizes quickly and easily separate hair into small strands for highlighting. One simple movement of the comb creates several even patches ready to be dyed, a step that usually takes several minutes of pintail weaving.

Dammit, I’m sure I posted an update on my hair in this thread last week, but that comment + another I made in a separate post have both fallen into the internet ether….😕

Anyway, thanks to all who have re-commented – I know you gals posted first time around, but the gremlins have eaten your comments methinks.

I too have had a chop recently – my hair now sits around shoulder blade length. It wasn’t my choice to go this short; my hairdresser just did it & I figured “well, hair grows back”. I hated my new length at first tbh (to the point of internally raging at my hairdresser for doing it), but I’ve grown used to it now. Still want to grow it out longer again though…oh & I still have the curtain fringe too.

EDIT: I know I said collarbone length, but on further reflection I realised I was wrong & it’s actually a bit longer than that lol.

Disappearing posts is a problem I’ve had, too, @Seashells. One day I logged on & saw a whole string of posts by me in “Latest Activity”. I panicked at first, thinking my account got hacked, but they were all posts that I’d tried to make in previous weeks but which disappeared, all suddenly posted, weeks later!

Maybe your disappeared posts will pop up when you least expect it?

      We’d love a pic!

That’s why I don’t go to hairdresers, they just do what they want or what they think is right for you. I’m too much of a cheapskate as well, I just do it myself and get my hubby to help occasionally.

        Yeah, I’m a tight-@r$# too, @Lisa – I also cut my own hair.

Yep and you’re the one who has to go home and maintain it. I once had a hairdresser cut layers in my hair when I didn’t ask her to and because my hair is naturally curly and very frizzy it was unmanageable and hard for me to style. I ended up having another hairdresser cut all my hair up to the shortest layer so that it was all one length and I started fresh.

Don’t worry @Lisa359, it took her several years before she convinced me to go copper, so she doesn’t always get her way. 😉 (And it only lasted a short time before I wanted to go back to having darker tresses, which she let me do thankfully.)

  • I need a cut pretty bad atm but I think my hairdresser is all fully booked. I should ring and find out. My daughter is going to him tomorrow.

I don’t know why I keep getting error messages when I try to post here!

I’ve had a big chop! 15cm gone! My hair now sits at my waist & it feels so much lighter. It had been just below my hips. I noticed my ends were looking gross, but it looks much healthier now.

I keep waving my head around, marvelling at how light my head feels. It’s not as dramatic as when I had a bob decades ago – still, I feel like I’ve lost weight! I should jump on the scales to check, haha!

oooh, it must feel glorious @Misfortune8! That swish moment….

Sounds lovely M8. Glad you are happy with your hair. I find when I have a lot cut off of my hair I seem to be able to wash it so much more easily. I use less shampoo as well.

I haven’t noticed any difference when shampooing: I went from below hip-length to waist-length, so it takes me about the same amount of time & shampoo.

    • Oooooh that’s exciting M8! want to see the photos!!

I’ve got a lighting problem in my bedroom, where the long mirror is. The bathroom’s got great lighting, but the mirror is too small. I’ll have to work out how to take a pic.

        I wish I’d taken a before shot.

    • Love the curtain bangs Seashells and I don’t think you could ever take a bad photo!

I desperately want my hair to grow to a reasonable length by August, for my sons wedding. I had long hair, it was getting really long, and I was an IDIOT and had it cut into a short bob, and it looks terrible and just won’t grow. It’s in shocking condition due to long term illness. I just tie it up. Eeekkkkkk!

My hair is getting long! I need the ends trimmed again.
Hopefully by the end of the year, it’ll be past my shoulders. Also hoping the layered bits will grow enough so it’s thicker.

I’m sure I replied to you months ago, @Rivetlicker – but my reply isn’t showing.

I’ve just had 2 error messages for some reason.

      I LOVE your pink hair!

Thank you so, so much Frenchy!

I need to get some third party image hosting going (what, is it 2005 again?! 🤣) so I can show you the hot mess it is today. I see my hairdresser on the 22nd.

    • Love that on you Rivet! too cute!

        Thank you!!!

It’s not even the end of the year and it has been past my shoulders since September, so obnoxious!

13 days until my haircut and colour haha.

      • haha yeh the countdown – I really need to have one of those. Think I’ll ring tomorrow to try to book in
