Teen creations on display during Second Saturday Art Walk

Fourth annual Know Thyself show at Studio Bob

PORT ANGELES — Teen creativity will be on display at Studio Bob beginning Saturday during the Second Saturday Art Walk.

The monthly art walk is at various venues in Port Angeles from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The fourth annual Know Thyself Teen Art Show at Studio Bob, which is upstairs at 118½ E. Front St., will feature art and performances by local high school students and the East Park Players. The show includes self portraits and other paintings, music, monologues and spoken word performances.

The artist’s reception will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. A no-host bar and refreshments by donation will be available in the The Loom next door to the gallery.

The show also will be open from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday and by appointment during February.

This is a family-friendly event, Stokes said.

Wheelchair access is limited; for assistance, contact Stokes at 415-990-3303.

Also on the walk on Saturday are:

• Harbor Art Gallery, 114 N. Laurel St., will feature artist Nancy McFaul this month.

The artist will be in the gallery from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. for the Second Saturday Art Walk and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. the following Thursday, Feb. 13.

In her latest series, McFaul uses life drawings done in charcoal and ink and dresses the figures with paper she has painted, cut and glued.

It’s her version of paper dolls — but it ends up as abstract collages with room for the viewer’s imagination, organizers said.

From 1965-1971, McFaul studied design in San Francisco and Berkeley, Calif. With only two hours left to earn a degree, she quit school to go on a road trip and stopped in Seattle for an expected two-week visit that turned into 40 years.

McFaul raised a family and worked in the family’s small specialty bakery in Pike Place Market; when she had a moment to spare, she painted. She studied gesture drawing and painting with Barbara Fugate at Gage Academy in Seattle.

Since moving to Port Angeles several years ago, she has enjoyed drawing at Studio Bob’s Drink & Draw, held each month on the Thursday before Second Saturday participating in life drawing sessions.

• One of a Kind Art Gallery, The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., will host Second Saturday visitors from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday.

The featured artist for the month of February is Jay Willoughby, who makes sculptures out of old tools and automobile parts.

During Second Saturday, The Landing mall will offer several interactive activities, complimentary snacks and drinks, live music, live art and an arcade with tournaments in progress.
