QUILCENE — The Quilcene Fair and Parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The free, family-friendly event will be at the Quilcene School, 294715, U.S. Highway 101, Quilcene.
The fair will feature food, vendors and a car show with the Olympic Peninsula chapter of Rat Bastards Car Club.
The parade will step off at 11 a.m. on Highway 101. Registration will begin at 9 a.m.
Longtime Quilcene Fire Rescue volunteers Bruce and Sue Stratton, this year’s King and Queen, will lead a parade that is expected to include floats from Port Townsend’s Rhody Festival, Sequim’s Irrigation Festival, the Borderline Dance Team, Cape George Highland Alpacas, the Olympic Peninsula Shrine Club and Strait Air Volksgruppe VW Car Club.
Registration for the car show, which costs $25 per vehicle, will begin at 8 a.m. at the school’s athletic field. Participants should turn off Highway 101 onto Rose Street then turn left onto McCardle Road and another left onto the athletic field.
The fair will be open until 3 p.m. and also will feature kids games and prizes, the GameTruck mobile video game experience, live band karaoke with Rockaraoke, and community craft vendors inside and outside the school.
Fairgoers are invited to stay for the Quilcene Rangers football game against the Neah Bay Red Devils. Kickoff will be at 1 p.m.
Proceeds from the fair will support next year’s event as well as local nonprofits focused on youth in Quilcene and Brinnon, including the Weekend Nutrition Program, the Quilcene Masonic Lodge’s Bike for Books and the Quilcene Girl Scouts.
