Peninsula to celebrate with Halloween events

Halloween-themed events are scheduled for venues across the North Olympic Peninsula this week. They include:

• A cosplay party for teens is set for 6 p.m. Friday at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

Teens can dress as their favorite character, watch the original “Ghostbusters” movie, work on autumnal crafts and play games and eat pizza.

Costumes must be appropriate for a public setting and include traction on the feet or shoes.

The event was designed by the Port Angeles Teen Advisory Board.

For more information, call the library at 360-417-8500, email teens@nols.org or visit www.nols.org.

• Country Fair and Trunk or Treat from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, Sequim.

The annual event will include a cake walk, games, free pumpkin carving and trunk-or-treating.

Game tickets are 50 cents each.

Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available for purchase, and one of the top prizes will be fresh-pressed apple cider made from local apples.

• Pumpkin carving from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday in the Raymond Carver Room at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

Participants can carve their own creative design or use provided stencils.

Pumpkins will be available while supplies last. Small pumpkins will be available for younger artists to decorate with markers.

Children 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

The group will meet at the cemetery entrance at Cemetery Street and Discovery Road.

After sketching, the group will meet at noon to admire sketches and take a group photo.

The owls are rescued birds who help educate the public about native wildlife.

Attendees also are invited to vote for “Whooooo’s the Spookiest?” among the owls.

Attendees are encouraged to bring donations for the rescue center.

Items most needed include: dry dog food, bleach, potty pads, towels, Dawn dish soap, birdseed and suet and gift certificates to Rodent Pro.

Tickets are $25 per person at www.eventbrite.com or $25 at the door.

Guests must be at least 17. Admission to the Billy Club is 21 and older.

Photography, weapons, food, drinks and smoking are not permitted in any of the tour’s venues.

Guests should expect strobe lights, artificial smoke, loud noises, steep stairs and graphic scenes of violence with sexual content that might be offensive to some.
