Peninsula College to host All In Film Festival this weekend

PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College’s Magic of Cinema and Clallam Mosaic will present the fifth All In Film Festival at 6:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.

The free annual event will be in the Little Theater at the college’s Port Angeles Campus, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.

The festival will showcase a selection of short films created by, starring and about neurodiverse individuals, including those living with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The festival is scheduled in October to celebrate Disability Employment Awareness Month, ADHD Awareness, Dyslexia Awareness, Disability History and Down Syndrome Awareness.

“Not just telling great stories, these films showcase the jobs in filmmaking and that they are available to everyone, either in front or behind the camera, no matter what label the individual actor, videographer, director or writer is defined by,” said Bonnie Smith, Clallam Mosaic’s board president.

The festival will feature eight films from Sproutflix:

• “Being Seen” — A film that challenges preconceptions about people labeled as disabled.

• “Boys in the Boat” — Two young rowers with diverse abilities thrive in the companionship and routine of team life.

• “Extra Ordinary” — A glimpse into the lives of two young people with Down syndrome.

• “Mise En Place” — Charlie washes dishes in a high-end restaurant while a coworker underestimates her creative talent.

• “This Is Jim” — A celebration of Jim, a community member with diverse abilities.

• “Always Here,” “A Safe Place to Rest” and “Let Go” from the Solo in the Wild series — performers with diverse abilities share original creative responses to the forests of Pembrokeshire, Wales.

There also will be three selections of Australia’s Bus Stop Films:

• “Fences” — A sci-fi tale in which a son sends an AI version of himself to mend fences on the family property.

• “It Won’t Define Me” — Professional athletes confront obstacles and pursue careers in sports.

• “Job Security” — A sharp comedy about a first-time job seeker who discovers “Fair Go Recruitment” isn’t so fair.

The full schedule and previews of the films are posted at www.clallam mosaic.org/all-in-film-fest.
