Makah Days to kick off three-day celebration Friday

NEAH BAY — The Makah Tribe will host its annual Makah Days celebration this weekend.

The annual celebration commemorates thousands of years of the Makah culture and the anniversary of becoming citizens of the United States.

The celebration will kick off at 1 p.m. Friday with a Quilts of Valor presentation at the Makah Community Gym, 1394 Bayview Ave., Neah Bay.

Also on Friday will be youth field games from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Neah Bay High School, 3560 Deer Park St., a talent show at 6 p.m. at the gym and fireworks near the Warmhouse Restaurant, 1471 Bayview Ave.

The Makah Days royalty coronation will take place during the talent show.

The Grand Parade will step off at 10 a.m. Saturday and will be followed by traditional dancing, a softball tournament and a salmon bake at noon. Seniors will be served at 11 a.m.
