PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., will host a live concert by the Navy Band Northwest Low Brass Quartet at 7 tonight.

This free performance will take place during the library’s quarterly Art Blast! — a free reception celebrating the opening of a veteran themed Art in the Library show at 6:30 p.m.

The exhibit will be on display through Jan. 17.

Refreshments will be served, and limited library services will be available during this special after-hours event.

Navy Band Northwest, of Silverdale, performs throughout the region for a variety of military functions and public concerts.

Comprised of two trombones, euphonium and tuba, the Low Brass Quartet performs classical, Dixieland, jazz and contemporary musical selections.

Art in the Library is a collaborative library-community art project celebrating the talents of local artists through a series of rotating visual art exhibits and free Art Blast! events, according to a news release.

General admission is $10.

FarmStrong is an acoustic music collaboration of four Olympic Peninsula musicians.

Jim Faddis fronts the band on rhythm guitar and vocals, Cort Armstrong plays lead guitar with a finger-picking style, Rick Meade is a multi-instrumentalist and John Pyles brings 50 years of bluegrass and bass playing experience to the band, according to a news release.

FarmStrong recorded their debut album, “Live In Dungeness — The Summer Sessions,” in June 2013 at Dungeness Community Studios. FarmStrong’s second album, “Forever,” was recorded and released in 2015, and features a substantial departure from the bluegrass song bag, including songs from The Band, The Cars, Ry Cooder and Rodney Crowell, according to the release.

This concert is one of three scheduled this academic year by Peninsula College Foundation in support of students and programs at Peninsula College campuses in Forks, Port Angeles and East Jefferson County.
