Ian Maksin will perform several concerts across the Peninsula during his summer tour.
The cellist will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday at Forks Congregational Church, 280 Spartan Ave., Forks.

Maksin also will perform at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Palindrome at Eaglemount Winery, 1893 S. Jacob Miller Road, Port Townsend.

Concertgoers can meet Maksin from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Eaglemount Winery.
A third performance is scheduled for 7 p.m. Aug. 21 in the Donna M. Morris Auditorium at Field Arts & Events Hall, 201 W. Front St., Port Angeles.

Concertgoers will have another opportunity to meet Maksin from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Field Hall’s Sunset Lounge.
Maksin, a cellist, composer and multilingual vocalist, studied at the School for Gifted Children in St. Petersburg, Russia, then known as Leningrad, and at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
“At some point I realized that music is much more than mere entertainment,” Maksin said. “Music is one of most powerful and unifying forces in the world, capable of healing, inspiring, bringing people together and bringing peace among them. I believe that cello will save the world.”
Maksin sings in 41 languages, including Ukrainian, Russian, English, Farsi, Armenian, French, Italian, Arabic, Hebrew, Mongolian and Bambara, a West African language.
His original compositions often are influenced by the ethnic music from countries and regions he has toured, such as Mongolia, West Africa, the Middle East, the Balkans and Andalusia.
