Woman accused of rape, animal cruelty to have mental health evaluation

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman accused of child rape and animal cruelty will have a mental health evaluation before trial.

Deanna Marie Wilson, 41, will be evaluated Wednesday by Seattle psychiatrist Dr. Kenneth Muscatel, defense attorney John Black said in a Friday court hearing.

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly struck Wilson’s Dec. 12 trial date and scheduled a resolve/reset hearing for Dec. 2, according to the minutes of the hearing.

Port Angeles police alleged that Wilson raped a 15-year-old boy after providing alcohol to a group of minors Oct. 6 and had sexual contact with a dog May 4 and Oct. 1.

She was also alleged to have taken photographs of the alleged crimes with her cellphone.

Wilson is formally charged with third-degree child rape, four counts of first-degree animal cruelty, possession of and dealing in depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and furnishing liquor to minors.

She is being held in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail.

Should she post bail, Wilson would be required to have no contact with minors or animals and wear a Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor unit, according to the conditions of release.

Melly on Friday denied a defense motion to reduce Wilson’s bail.
