Two investigated for possession of controlled substance

PORT ANGELES — Two Sequim residents were arrested on investigation of possession of a controlled substance following a welfare check.

William Kallsen, 24, and Amy Zimmerman, 34, were asleep in a truck parked in the 100 block of Cottonwood Lane in Port Angeles about 10:21 a.m. on Feb. 20, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.

The reporting party said Kallsen and Zimmerman were both in the front seat, and they were bent over and not responding.

Deputies attempted to wake up both individuals, but they didn’t receive a response until they opened the driver’s door out of concern for their safety, the Sheriff’s Office said.

While speaking with Kallsen and Zimmerman, deputies observes large amounts of drug paraphernalia throughout the truck. Both admitted to having used drugs and having them inside the vehicle, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Detectives from the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team (OPNET) responded to assist with the investigation.

A search warrant for the truck was obtained, and detectives located 1.3 grams of suspected cocaine, 17.67 grams of methamphetamine, 0.92 grams of a white powder that is a suspected controlled substance, brass knuckles and a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Kallsen was booked into the Clallam County Jail on investigation of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a dangerous weapon. Zimmerman was booked into jail on investigation of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Kallsen posted a $10,000 bond and was released Feb. 21. Zimmerman was released the same day.
