Third-degree child molestation charges filed against Port Angeles man

The 38-year-old is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl at a residence east of Port Angeles.

PORT ANGELES — Brook Lee Grant Medley of Port Angeles has been charged with third-degree child molestation.

The 38-year-old is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl at a residence east of Port Angeles last Thursday.

He is being held in the Clallam County jail on $10,000 bail.

Clallam County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Michele Devlin had requested a $50,000 bail at Medley’s initial court appearance Monday.

Medley will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Clallam County Superior Court.

Should he post bail, Medley would be restricted from having any contact with the alleged victim or unsupervised contact with any minor.

Verbal altercation

The girl reported the crime to her mother before deputies responded to a verbal altercation between Medley and another man at about 5:24 p.m. Sunday, court papers said.

The man was “very upset,” telling investigators that Medley had molested a girl, according to the affidavit for probable cause.

Medley was booked into the Clallam County jail at about 7 p.m. Sunday.

Third-degree child molestation occurs when someone has sexual contact with a child who is 14 or 15 and is at least four years older than the victim, according to state law.
