Status hearing in child rape case moved to Friday

PORT ANGELES — A status hearing for Donald William Kingsley has been continued to give him time to review a plea offer, Clallam County Superior Court records show.

Kingsley, 30, has pleaded not guilty to single counts of first-degree child rape and first-degree child molestation for alleged crimes against an 8-year-old girl in August.

His trial is set for Nov. 13.

A status conference set for last Friday was moved to this Friday at the request of defense attorney John Hayden of Clallam Public Defender.

Both charges against Kingsley carry a special allegation that Kingsley used his “position of trust, confidence, or fiduciary responsibility” to commit the alleged offense.

Port Angeles police arrested Kingsley after he allegedly confessed to the crimes in a recorded conversation with the girl’s father, according to the affidavit for probable cause.

Kingsley is being held in the Clallam County jail on $100,000 bail.
