Sheriff’s Office: Port Hadlock man arrested for alleged attack on grandmother

PORT HADLOCK — A Port Hadlock man has been arrested for allegedly attacking his grandmother at her home.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office arrested Atticus Colter Burrows, 20. He was booked into the Jefferson County Jail for investigation of felony assault in the first degree.

Jefferson County Sheriff’s Sgt. Brett Anglin said that at about 10:22 a.m. Sunday, Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of Old Hadlock Road in response to an assault that had just occurred.

Deputies were told by the victim, a 77-year-old woman, that her grandson was the suspect. Burrows had been living in a tent about 800 feet from her residence.

Burrows attacked her and left the scene, according to law enforcement. The woman was able reach a neighbor for help and was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with a head injury. She was released Monday afternoon, according to the hospital.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office tracked Burrows and found him back in his tent and placed him under arrest.

The Port Townsend Police, Port Angeles Police, State Patrol and the State Patrol Crime Response Team worked to help locate the suspect and contain the scene.

At Burrows’ first court appearance Monday, Chief Deputy Prosecutor Julie St. Marie said the court set bond at $150,000. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday.

Burrows is being represented by Jefferson Associated Counsel.
