Sequim man’s molestation trial date moved

PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man charged with molesting and sending sexually explicit messages to a 14-year-old girl has a new trial date.

Michael Douglas Millsap’s felony trial was moved last week from Dec. 11 to Feb. 12 because the state was working on a plea offer, according to the minutes of a Thursday court hearing.

Millsap, 52, is charged with two counts of third-degree child molestation and two counts of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said Millsap provided the girl with alcohol, molested her at a Joyce residence and sent explicit text messages to the teen.

Millsap, who is not in custody, has maintained his innocence.

A status hearing is set for Dec. 21.
