Sequim man arrested on child molestation

Iliff, 83, previously pleaded guilty to communication with minor

SEQUIM — An elderly Sequim man who is a registered sex offender is being held in the Clallam County jail after he was arrested for investigation of one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree child molestation.

Lloyd N. Iliff, 83, was scheduled to appear before Clallam County Superior Court Judge Simon Barnhart this afternoon for formal charging.

He was arrested Thursday and remained in jail in lieu of $250,000 bail.

Iliff pleaded guilty on June 7, 2010, to amended charges of two counts of communication with a minor for immoral purposes — first offense, with no prior felony sex offenses.

The charges are gross misdemeanors, punishable by up to one year in jail or a $5,000 fine or both, plus restitution, assessments and court costs, according to court records.

Iliff was sentenced on that date to 365 days in jail suspended plus $845 in fines and court costs and two years of community custody. He also was required to obtain a pyscho-sexual evaluation from a qualified provider.

He attended a sex offender treatment program from Nov. 9, 2010, until June 4, 2012, and determined to have satisfactorily completed it. He was released from supervised probation on June 8, 2012.

Iliff originally was charged with two counts of second-degree incest with the victim 14 or younger, one count of first-degree child molestation and one count of second-degree molestation for events alleged to have occurred between August 2004 and May 2008.

The charges were reduced because the victim did not wish to proceed with the court case, court records state.
