Prosecution says more charges possible against Hill

PORT ANGELES — Additional charges could be in the works against former Olympic Medical Center emergency room doctor Josiah Hill who is accused of sex crimes against patients.

During a status hearing on Jan. 20, Hill’s attorney, Jarred Aussserer with Puget Law Group, said that the defense is still looking over nearly 4,000 pages of “discovery” (i.e. evidence) which includes at least 12 allegations leveled at Hill, of which six have led to charges being filed. The 12 allegations are contained within the discovery documents and are not subject to public record.

Clallam County Prosecutor Michele Devlin said Friday that she is not expecting any additional discovery, but that a report from a seventh person could be the basis for additional, unidentified, charges.

Hill faces five counts of indecent liberties by a healthcare provider and one count of second-degree rape. Hill has pleaded not guilty to each charge.

A trial is set to take place on April 10.

Judge Simon Barnhart presided over the hearing and noted that the prosecution had extended a plea deal to Hill and his attorney, which Hill declined.

Hill had been an emergency room doctor at Olympic Medical Center since 2020. He was brought on by the former emergency room provider Peninsula Emergency Services Inc. (PESI)

OMC ended its contract with PESI in June, with CEO Darryl Wolfe saying that one of the key reasons the contract was ending was due to allegations against Hill.

A second status hearing is set for 9 a.m. on Feb. 24.
