PORT TOWNSEND — A Port Townsend woman faces arraignment Friday after she was charged with hit-and-run injury, a felony, and DUI, a gross misdemeanor, when she hit a bicyclist Sunday morning on state Highway 20 west of Fort Townsend State Park, according to the State Patrol and Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

Lori Kaminester, 58, Port Townsend, was driving her Ford Windstar van eastbound on Highway 20 at Old Fort Townsend while cyclist Keri N. Fezzey, 48, of Coupeville was riding eastbound on the road shoulder, according to the State Patrol collision memo.

Kaminester drifted onto the road shoulder and hit Fezzey with the right side mirror and side of her van, troopers said.

Fezzey was knocked into the eastbound ditch while Kaminester continued into Port Townsend, they added, saying she was arrested in a parking lot by Port Townsend police.

Fezzey was taken by aid car to St. Michael’s Medical Center in Silverdale, where she was treated for minor injuries and discharged, according to a hospital spokeswoman. She was wearing a helmet.

Kaminester was charged with hit and run injury and DUI. Jefferson County Prosecutor James Kennedy said $10,000 bail was requested but Kaminester was released on her personal recognizance with the requirement that she obtain an ignition interlock device. Her arraignment is set for 8:30 a.m. Friday, he said.
