Port Angeles woman arrested on suspicion of illegal drug sales

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles woman who allegedly sold methamphetamine and heroin to detectives is now in jail for investigation of several drug charges.

Jillian Renee Payne, 36, remained in the Clallam County jail Thursday held on $24,500 bond and $6,950 bail.

Payne was arrested Wednesday without incident at a home in Gales Addition, according to Detective Sgt. John Keegan of the Olympic Peninsula Narcotics Enforcement Team.

“Payne’s arrest was made after OPNET detectives were able to purchase both methamphetamine and heroin from Payne on two separate occasions,” Keegan said in a news release.

“One of these transactions occurred within the city of Port Angeles within 1,000 feet of a school bus stop.”

Payne was booked into jail for investigation of two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, heroin; two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school bus stop; possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine; possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, heroin; and possession of a legend drug without a prescription.

Detectives purchased between 2 grams of heroin and about 4 grams of methamphetamine from Payne, Keegan said.

At the time of her arrest, Payne was found to be in possession of 0.75 grams of methamphetamine, 16 grams of heroin, 10 individually packaged baggies that each contained about 0.5 grams of heroin, 19 Suboxone strips, one sealed Fentanyl patch and various pieces of drug paraphernalia, Keegan said.
