Port Angeles police investigate knife assault

Police say that one man was left with a stab wound to his leg after a fight in the city.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles police are investigating a reported knife assault that left one man with a stab wound to his leg.

Officers were called to a reported fight in progress involving 10 people at Fifth and I streets on the city’s west side at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday, police said in an online post. The area was clear when officers arrived.

Police were then called to the Olympic Medical Center emergency room, where they found a man with contusions, abrasions and an apparent stab wound to one of his legs.

Investigators were told that a fight had broken out at the corner of First and Lincoln streets in downtown Port Angeles, where the unidentified man was reportedly stabbed.

The fight reconstituted itself at Fifth and I streets, Police Chief Brian Smith said.

“I don’t think we know everything about the event,” Smith added.

A male suspect in the reported stabbing was described as being about 6-foot-1, 230 pounds with long, dark hair and a possible first name of Davante.

“It’s a possible name that was uttered,” Smith said.

“It doesn’t mean it’s the name of the suspect.”

Police had no further details about the incident.

“We would love to get more information from anybody who either saw it or was involved,” Smith said.
