Port Angeles man charged with allegedly raping, molesting 8-year-old girl

PORT ANGELES — A 30-year-old Port Angeles man has been charged for allegedly raping and molesting an 8-year-old girl.

Donald William Kingsley was charged Tuesday in Clallam County Superior Court with single counts of first-degree rape of a child and first-degree child molestation.

Each count carried a special allegation that Kingsley used his “position of trust, confidence, or fiduciary responsibility” to facilitate the commission of the alleged offense.

Kingsley will be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 22.

Port Angeles police said Kingsley allegedly raped the girl Aug. 24.

Kingsley was arrested last Thursday after police listened to a recorded conversation between Kingsley and the victim’s father, according to the affidavit for probable cause.

“After initially denying any wrongdoing, Kingsley told [the father] that he did touch [the girl] on the night in question,” Officer Erik Smith wrote in the arrest narrative.

Clallam County Superior Court Judge Christopher Melly set a $100,000 bail for Kingsley as requested by Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Sarah Woolman on Friday.

Kingsley remained in the county jail Tuesday, according to the jail roster.

Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour appointed Clallam Public Defender to Kingsley’s defense Tuesday.

Should he post bail, Kingsley is ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim or anyone younger than 18.
