Port Angeles man arrested for investigation of third-degree child molestation

Brook Lee Grant Medley is being held in the Clallam County jail on $10,000 bail.

PORT ANGELES — A 38-year-old Port Angeles man was arrested Sunday for investigation of third-degree child molestation of a 14-year-old girl.

Brook Lee Grant Medley is being held in the Clallam County jail on $10,000 bail.

The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office will consider filing a formal charge Wednesday.

Sheriff’s deputies responded to a possible fight on the 600 block of North Larch Avenue east of Port Angeles on Sunday evening, court papers said.

A man who had been yelling at Medley told authorities that Medley had molested the 14-year-old, according to the arrest narrative.

The girl told investigators that she had been molested by Medley in her room last Thursday night, deputy Christopher Moon wrote in the affidavit for probable cause.

Should he post bail, Medley is under orders to have no contact with the alleged victim.

Clallam County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Michele Devlin had requested a $50,000 bail for Medley.

Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour set the bail and signed the two-year, pretrial sexual assault protection order.

Under state law, third-degree child molestation occurs when someone has sexual contact with a child who is 14 or 15 and is at least four years older than the victim.

It is a Class C felony.
