Port Angeles man accepts plea offer after pleading guilty to second-degree child molestation

PORT ANGELES — A Port Angeles man accused of molesting a 13-year-old girl at a party last October has accepted a plea offer.

Kevin Trae Richardson, 19, pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of second-degree child molestation.

Single counts of second-degree child rape, possession of hydrocodone and possession of morphine were dismissed as part of a plea agreement, court papers said.

Richardson will be sentenced Oct. 3 in Clallam County Superior Court.

Based on his offender score, Richardson faces a standard sentencing range of 15 months to 20 months. The Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s office has recommended a 17.5-month sentence for Richardson, to be followed by three years of community custody.

According to charging papers, a then-18-year-old Richardson attended a party of middle schoolers who were staying in a large tent on a Port Angeles property last Oct. 28.

There, Richardson shared alcohol with a 13-year-old girl, who later fell asleep and woke up to Richardson having sex with her, Port Angeles police said.

The girl told police that Richardson told the partygoers he was 16, according to the affidavit for probable cause.

Richardson is being held on $25,000 bail.
