Motorcyclist evades Clallam County Sheriff’s Office deputies east of Port Angeles

The suspect escaped law enforcement after ditching the motorcycle and running into the woods.

PORT ANGELES — A motorcyclist without a license plate escaped deputies early Monday morning after ditching the bike and running into the woods, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy attempted to pull the motorcyclist over at about 2:49 a.m. near 3500 E. U.S. Highway 101, near Walmart, but the motorcyclist fled into Four Seasons Ranch at the bottom of the hill, said Chief Criminal Deputy Brian King.

“The driver ended up ditching the motorcycle by the Discovery Trail, took off into the woods and was not apprehended,” he said.

At this point deputies have no suspects. King said the deputy was patrolling the area in response to a recent uptick in burglaries and vehicle prowls east of Port Angeles.

“It’s suspicious when you have a motorcycle out late at night with no license plate running on the public streets where we’ve had some issues,” he said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 360-417-2459.
