Jefferson deputies investigating male body found in Port Ludlow

Sheriff’s office says autopsy will confirm manner of death

PORT LUDLOW — Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies discovered a deceased 22-year-old man on a Port Ludlow property.

Patrol Sergeant Brett Anglin said deputies received a call about 10 a.m. Sunday regarding the body located in the 2000 block of Beaver Valley Road.

“They arrived to find a male victim, which appeared to be several wounds about him, indicative of either homicidal or suicidal violence,” Anglin said Monday. “The male subject was in an open area on the property.

“Detectives responded that day, as well as the coroner’s office and prosecutor’s office. They wrapped up the investigation on the scene. They intend on conducting additional searches of the victim’s vehicle, and an autopsy is scheduled for (Monday).”

Anglin said the man’s family reported the body to the sheriff’s office.

The sheriff’s office will wait for the autopsy report before it releases the cause of death, Anglin said.

“We can tell that there were definitely wounds that precipitated the death of the individual,” Anglin said. “However, I cannot give any more until after the autopsy. We just don’t know at this point and are still conducting the investigation to make sure we come to the ultimate conclusion.”

Anglin said the autopsy report from the medical examiner is expected to take a few days.

“At this point, there is no indication that there is any threat to community safety that we know of,” Anglin said. “We’re still obviously going to be thoroughly investigating this, to be sure.”
