Man to be arraigned in attempted murder investigation

PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Superior Court Judge Brent Basden has set the arraignment for a Port Angeles man who was arrested on investigation of attempted murder and felony harassment.

Brian Lee Lester, 38, will next appear in Clallam County Superior Court on at 1 p.m. April 11 to face charges related to a March 27 incident at the 9/11 Memorial Water Park on Caroline Street.

Lester allegedly opened the door of a black Kia parked at the park and began punching a man who was asleep in the driver’s seat next to the vehicle’s owner, a woman described as Lester’s former girlfriend, according to the Port Angeles Police Department report.

Lester allegedly threatened the man, telling him, “I’m going to kill you” and “you’re going to be dead.” When the man tried to drive away, Lester allegedly fired a gun at the vehicle.

Officers found a bullet lodged in the interior of the vehicle and the rear driver’s side passenger door had a hole in it consistent with a projectile.

Lester was booked into the Clallam County Jail, where he has been held with bail set at $750,000.

Basden ordered Lester on Tuesday to have no contact with the man or the woman.
