Man accused of burglary after he was found hiding under bed

Deputies find victim’s possessions in driveway

PORT HADLOCK — A man was arrested for investigation of second-degree burglary after Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies found him hiding underneath a bed at a Port Hadlock home.

Dennis Lee Gray, 28, was booked Monday afternoon at the Jefferson County Jail, where he is being held in lieu of $10,000 bail.

He also is being investigated for residential burglary, second-degree vehicle prowling and possession of methamphetamine, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.

Gray had an outstanding warrant for burglary in Snohomish County.

Jefferson County deputies were checking on a home about 11 a.m. Monday because the homeowner had been at an assisted-living facility while they were being rehabilitated from a medical condition, according to the police report.

When deputies arrived, they found some of the victim’s property in the driveway and saw the detached garage had been opened.

Deputies entered the home and found Gray under a bed.

Hadlock Building Supply donated a new lock to secure the victim’s residence, the sheriff’s office reported.
