High-speed spin ends with crash into building, charges

Sequim teen charged with reckless endangerment, hit-and-run

PORT ANGELES — A Sequim teen who allegedly drove at speeds of up to 90 mph in a 35 mph zone before crashing into a Carlsborg building this week has been charged in Clallam County District Court.

Quinton A. Burroughs-Hernandez, 18, was charged Thursday with reckless endangerment and hit-and-run.

He was being held in the Clallam County jail on $5,000 bail.

The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office alleged that Burroughs-Hernandez was driving a Volkswagen Tiguan northbound on Mill Road at speeds of 80 to 90 mph before disregarding a stop sign.

The vehicle crashed into a fence and into a building at the north end of Mill Road, sustaining heavy damage to the windshield and passenger side, Sheriff’s Sgt. Shaun Minks said Thursday.

“When the vehicle came to a stop, Quinton and two other passengers ran from the vehicle,” Minks said in a Thursday press release.

“Passengers involved in the accident suffered minimal injuries from the crash.”

Burroughs-Hernandez was located at his residence about a mile from the crash site.

He was arrested for investigation of hit-and-run, reckless endangerment and two outstanding warrants, Minks said.

Two other passengers remained at the scene, Minks said.
