PORT ANGELES — A court hearing for a man charged in an armed standoff with law enforcement in January and an alleged attack in the Clallam County jail in February has been rescheduled.
Ordez Eugene Kompkoff’s review hearing was reset Friday for Sept. 16 because his attorney had not received the results of a psychological evaluation, court papers said.
Kompkoff, 21, is charged in one case with first-degree kidnapping, second-degree assault with a deadly weapon, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, first-degree escape, heroin possession and two counts of harassment-threats to kill.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said Kompkoff held a male acquaintance hostage at gunpoint inside a residence at the Salt Creek RV Park east of Joyce and threatened to shoot officers during a five-hour standoff Jan. 26.
Investigators found a loaded revolver and semi-automatic pistol inside the residence and what appeared to be heroin residue on Kompkoff, according to the arrest narrative.
Kompkoff was charged in a second case with first-degree robbery and second-degree assault for allegedly attacking and robbing a fellow jail inmate Feb. 7 and Feb. 10.
He has maintained his innocence in both cases.
A mental health evaluation was conducted by Seattle-based psychiatrist Dr. Kenneth Muscatel.
Defense attorney Karen Unger told Superior Court Judge Brian Coughenour that she had not received the report as of Friday.
Unger had requested the evaluation for Kompkoff for a potential diminished-capacity defense.
