PORT ANGELES — A federal lawsuit against a Forks High School teacher and cross-country coach is scheduled for a jury trial next year in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington in Tacoma.
Brian Weekes is accused of sexual harassment and assault and retaliation by former assistant cross-country coach Kari Larson, a 2015 Forks High School graduate.
The Quillayute Valley School District and district assistant superintendent and Athletic Director Kyle Weakley also are named as defendants.
The trial is scheduled for Feb. 4, 2026.
According to the original complaint filed on Aug. 29, 2024, Weekes allegedly engaged in persistent unwanted physical contact, sent offensive text messages, made sexually suggested comments and stalked Larson soon after she was hired in fall 2017.
In her complaint, Larson, who played soccer for Weekes in elementary, middle and high school, said his behavior toward her changed when she became an assistant.
In his response, Weekes denied all of Larson’s allegations, and he said she initiated many of the alleged actions.
An amended complaint filed on Feb. 24, 2025, claims that QVSD was aware of other reports of Weekes’ alleged sexual harassment of female middle and high school students, but it did not follow its own policies in responding to those and Larson’s complaints.
QVSD and Weakley denied the allegations in their response to the complaint.
