Driver cited after crashing into wall

PORT ANGELES — A driver who fell asleep at the wheel early Tuesday morning was cited for second-degree negligent driving after crashing his car into a store near the intersection of eastbound U.S. Highway 101 and Mount Pleasant Road in Port Angeles, the State Patrol said.

The car ended up in the wall of Beer, Bongs and Bullshit, according to the State Patrol.

“He fell asleep, so it was not a DUI. Negligent driving in the second degree is any time a driver injures someone or causes property damage,” said Trooper Katherine Weatherwax, State Patrol spokeswoman.

Marquis L. Campbell, 45, of Lakewood was driving a maroon Chevrolet Equinox on eastbound Highway 101 about 5:20 a.m. when he veered off the road and into the business, which shares a building with Muffy’s Pot Shop.

Weatherwax said the car went through a wall that used to be an old garage door.

The driver suffered a scratch to his left knee, she said.

His car was completely destroyed, she added.
