Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies respond to unrelated firearms incidents

Man, 18, turns himself in after allegedly shooting from moving vehicle

PORT ANGELES — Two unrelated firearms incidents within two miles of each other occurred in unincorporated Port Angeles, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.

The first incident occurred about 8 p.m. Thursday, when deputies responded to a report a firearm being discharged on Deer Park Road, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Then deputies received a four-second Snapchat video showing an individual later identified as Cash Coleman, 18, of Port Angeles, discharging a semi-automatic handgun out the driver’s side window of a moving vehicle.

After analyzing landscape features in the video such as trees, mountain slopes and road curvature, deputies recovered a 9 mm shell casing about 123 feet north of the location, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Afterward, deputies obtained search warrants for the firearm and Coleman’s arrest.

Coleman voluntarily contacted deputies on Saturday after learning about the investigation, turned himself in to law enforcement and surrendered the 9 mm weapon.

Coleman provided a statement to investigators and was booked into the Clallam County jail and later released. He may face charges for unlawful aiming or discharging a firearm, a gross misdemeanor.

Separately, deputies responded about 5 p.m. Friday to a bullet striking a home in the 100 block of Kruse Road near Mount Pleasant Road.

When they arrived, deputies found a 9 mm bullet lodged into the exterior of the home.

Using three-dimensional scene analysis, investigators determined the incident was unrelated to Thursday’s incident.

The case remains under active investigation.
