Charges filed against Yakima man after Port Angeles pursuit

Probable cause statements say Richard Speedy damaged property on both sides of Port Angeles during the incident.

PORT ANGELES — A Yakima resident was charged Thursday in Clallam County Superior Court with eluding police, driving under the influence, three counts of hit-and-run with a vehicle and two counts of hit-and-run property damage.

Richard Speedy, 56, was driving a Dodge truck towing a 35-foot Bighorn fifth wheel when he hit a motorcycle and car on U.S. Highway 101 near Monroe Road in Port Angeles at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, according to court documents.

No one was hurt.

After leaving the scene, Speedy headed into Port Angeles and led police on a short pursuit on the west side of town before stopping near the 2100 block of West Sixth Street, according to court documents.

Probable cause statements say Speedy damaged property on both sides of Port Angeles during the incident.

Speedy’s blood-alcohol content when arrested was 0.12 percent, court documents say.

Speedy posted $7,500 for bail Tuesday.
