Brinnon man sentenced for two assaults

More than two years in prison for stabbing, biting women

PORT TOWNSEND — A Brinnon man was sentenced to more than two years in prison after he previously pleaded guilty to two counts of assault in which he bit and stabbed women.

Brent Alan Britsch, 45, received 29 months in prison, a sentence at the high range of 13-17 months, plus 12 months for the weapons enhancement, according to the Jefferson County Prosecutor’s Office.

Jefferson County Superior Court Judge Keith Harper sentenced Britsch on Friday.

Britsch pleaded guilty April 12 of the assaults on two women at his home Feb. 13.

According to court documents, Britsch attacked one woman after they argued about her staying at his house. He stabbed her with a pair of scissors and also cut her arm and bit her cheek.

Court records also document Britsch’s attack on his live-in girlfriend, whom he beat, stabbed and bit.

Britsch had been drinking, and it is believed his intoxication contributed to the attacks over several hours, according to court documents.

Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Anna Phillips recommended a sentence at the top of the standard range in return for his guilty plea.

The court ordered domestic violence and anti-harassment protection orders, chemical dependency treatment, anger management and domestic violence perpetrators treatment. Britsch also is required to pay a $500 victim’s fee and a $100 domestic violence assessment.

Britsch will be subject to monitoring by the state Department of Corrections for 18 months when he is released.
