PORT ANGELES — A man suspected in a theft from Hartnagel Building Supply last month has been arrested by Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies on investigation of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance and theft.
Deputies identified Jaired Nove, 32, from surveillance footage taken at the store, which reported $706.98 in merchandise, including four Milwaukee batteries and a battery charger, was stolen. He was arrested Thursday and remained in the Clallam County Jail on Tuesday on $25,000 bail.
Nove at first denied and then admitted to his involvement to deputies during a traffic stop they initiated, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.
After obtaining and executing a search warrant for Nove’s vehicle, deputies discovered a loaded 9mm handgun, a 9mm magazine with 29 rounds of ammunition, four loaded hypodermic needles containing suspected methamphetamine, assorted pills, Milwaukee tools and clothes matching those Nove was seen wearing in the surveillance footage.
They also discovered two methamphetamine capsules and a wallet containing a driver’s license and credit cards belonging to another individual, who later confirmed the items had been stolen, the sheriff’s office said.
Nove has a 2022 conviction for possession of a stolen vehicle, making it unlawful for him to possess firearms, the sheriff’s office said.
